FRSC Isolo Unit celebrates children’s day with the inauguration of Road Safety Club

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Isolo Unit Command marked Children’s Day with a unique celebration that combined festivities with the inauguration of Road Safety Clubs in seven schools within Isolo.

This event, aimed at promoting the healthy growth and happiness of children, also underscored their importance as the future of the nation.

The day’s activities began with a radio program on SMA Radio 104.7FM at 9 AM, featuring six students from different schools who discussed the topic “Enhanced Road Safety for Children.” The student panelists included:

Christabel N. Chukwukezirim – GoldenVill Palm College
Keku Oluwaseyifunmi – De-Bright College
Idahosa Israel – Apple Orchard Montessori School
Modesty Abii – GoldenVill Palm College
Amadi Chioma – Ijeshatedo Senior Grammar School
The program received numerous calls from listeners, engaging the community in the conversation about road safety for children.

Following the radio program, the Road Safety Clubs were inaugurated in the seven schools, and students were inducted into these clubs. The Special Guest of Honor, Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Honourable Monsuru Oloyede Bello (OBE), served as the Review Officer for the student parade. In his address, he encouraged the students to exhibit good behavior and reaffirmed his commitment to establishing an FRSC presence in Ejigbo LCDA, pledging to provide the necessary logistics for the command’s operations.

Honourable Bello emphasized that road safety is a collective responsibility and urged everyone present to support the Corps in achieving their goals. The event featured various competitions, including dancing, games, and quizzes, which added to the festive atmosphere.

The State Coordinator of Special Marshals Lagos, represented by State Secretary Dr. Olabisi Daniel, advised the newly inducted students to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures for Road Safety Clubs. In his welcome address, CRC Uko O. Uko, Unit Commander of FRSC Isolo, expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA for his ongoing support and commended the participating schools for their dedication.

In a post-event interview, the Unit Commander explained that the Road Safety Club is part of the third tier of FRSC Operations as outlined in the FRSC (Establishment) Act 2007. The primary responsibilities of the Road Safety Club include public enlightenment and traffic control, and the Commander assured citizens of significant impact in these areas following the club’s inauguration.

The celebration underscored the importance of road safety education and community involvement in fostering a safer environment for children, reinforcing the theme of Children’s Day as a time to celebrate and safeguard the nation’s future.
