Underdog Victory: Doma Shocks Wamba in Nasarawa State U-13 Opener

A disallowed goal for Doma and a close chance for Wamba kept the spectators on edge. However, it was Doma who broke the deadlock in extra time, with Ahmed Mohammed Chese calmly converting a penalty to secure all three points for his team.

“The boys displayed incredible spirit and determination,” expressed Architect Ahmed Sarki, Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, amidst jubilant scenes in the stadium.

The colorful opening ceremony, attended by all participating Local Government Areas, highlighted the importance of grassroots football development in the state. Hon. Aliyu Bello, chief organizer of the tournament and founder of the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation, emphasized the role of sports in nurturing young talents.

The action continues on Tuesday, 21st May, with Kokona facing off against Nasarawa-Eggon in Group B’s opening match at 8 am. Meanwhile, last year’s third-place winners, Lafia, kick-start their Group C campaign against Akwanga at 10 am.

Sun reports that the Excitement is palpable as the tournament promises more thrills and surprises, with twelve out of thirteen Local Government Areas participating. Toto Local Government Area’s absence for the second consecutive year has not dampened the fervor surrounding the competition.
