Vice President Shettima Commissions New Bauchi State Government House Complex

Vice President Kashim Shettima Mustapha commissioned the new Bauchi State Government House Complex on Saturday. He praised Governor Bala Mohammed for his performance, leadership, and commitment to developing the state.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Governors Umaru Fintiri, Babagana Zulum, Mala Buni, Inuwa Yahaya, and past Governors Adamu Mu’azu, Mohammed Abdullahi, and Major General Chris Abutu Garba (retired).

The Vice President described the Government House project as a foundation for urban renewal and improved government service delivery. He emphasized the importance of governing infrastructure in complementing efforts to build physical infrastructure.

“State governments are positioned to influence commercial, social, cultural, technological, and economic pursuits of life, which is crucial in emerging markets and developing economies,” he said.

The Vice President commended Governor Mohammed for his dedication to repositioning the state. He praised the governor’s inclusivity and willingness to reach across the aisle to build bridges.

“Governance is about inclusivity, governance is about reaching out and building bridges,” he said.

He commended the governors of the northeast for their efforts to develop their states. He stated that the current crop of governors is far superior to previous ones and praised their comradeship, sense of purpose, and commitment.

“We have no business fighting each other,” he said. “We are all united by our common heritage of poverty, destitution, and insecurity. More than ever before, this is a time for us to coalesce into a single entity.”

Governor Mohammed thanked the Vice President for commissioning the remodelled government house complex. He praised the Vice President’s leadership and commitment to national unity and progress.

He recalled his administration’s My Bauchi Project agenda, aimed at improving people’s welfare, diversifying the economy, and upgrading infrastructure. He stated that the remodelled Government House was a strategic cornerstone of the urban renewal agenda.

He listed the features of the remodelled Government House, including a grandstand, international conference centre, banquet hall, expanded governor’s residence, new senior staff residences, clinic, mosque, firehouse, vehicle maintenance unit, central kitchen, canteen, shop, powerhouse, fuel service area, entrance gatehouses, armoury, pedestrian access, abattoir, external hall, drainages, and more.

He expressed his satisfaction with the project and its contribution to the state’s development.
