The wife of former Chief of Staff to Benue Governor, Terwase Orbunde, and her housemaid who were kidnapped by gunmen in Makurdi last Friday evening have been freed.
A close ally of the former aide, Tahav Argezua, said in a statement that the women, Mrs Abigail Kashimana Orbunde and Ms Patience Ogute regained their freedom on Tuesday after an undisclosed amount was paid as ransom to their abductors, who had earlier demanded N100 million.
“The captives spent four harrowing days in captivity before their release.
“They have reunited with some of their family members and taken to hospital for immediate medical attention,” Argezua said.
They were in captivity for four days before the were released by their abductors.
The abductors abandoned Orbunde after he was shot in the right arm, then whisked away his wife and cook.
Argezua disclosed that Mrs Orbunde expressed gratitude to God for their deliverance, just as she said they walked long distances in the bush without food or water.
“Her husband, who is receiving treatment in hospital for gunshot wounds, thanked God and all those who stood with the family through prayers and financial contributions that have secured the release,” Argezua
It was said that they have reunited with their family members, after which they were taken to hospital for immediate medical attention.
Orbunde was attacked by the gunmen who abducted his wife and housemaid after inspecting a farm.
The incident took place along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital around.
Her husband, who is receiving treatment in hospital for gunshot wounds, thanked God and all those who stood with the family in prayers and financial contributions to secure their release.
