Super Eagles first choice Stanley Nwabali is overjoyed after keeping a clean sheet as his team, Chippa United, defeated TS Galaxy FC 2-0 in a cup tie at the Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, on Sunday.

Bienvenu Eva Nga and Roscoe Pietersen scored in each half as the visitors romped to the road win and progressed to the next stage of the Nedbank Cup.

The 27-year-old, who wasn’t listed for their PSL 2-0 home win over Kaizer Chiefs on April 6 at the Buffalo City Stadium, East London — obviously not due to form concerns –¬ shared his excitement in a post on his Instagram page on Monday.

“This is my office!! Another clean sheet in the bag, a back-to-back Nedbank Cup match win prior to great team performance. Onto the next round! Chilli boys,” Nwabali stated on Instagram.

The former Enyimba shot stopper also kept a clean sheet the last time he turned out for the Chilli Boys in their PSL 2-0 win over the Cape Town Spurs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), on April 3.

In what has become a routine for Nwabali since his international breakthrough, he shared his excitement on his social media handles the following day, stating, “It’s been persistence, learning from failures, and grace. Massive collective win and another clean sheet in the bag. Chilli boys.”

Next for Nwabali and his teammates in the Premier Soccer League is a trip to SuperSport United for a potentially explosive encounter at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, Pretoria on April 20.

Nwabali is living his Chippa United dream again after being threatened by some South African fans for denying Bafana Bafana passage to the 2023 AFCON final by stopping two of their five penalties in the semi-final of the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast last February.

His international trajectory typifies diligence, hard work, patience and persistence, akin to the proverbial dog having its day.

Nwabali quickly claimed his spot in the limelight at the continental football showpiece as his consistent top-drawer displays between the sticks helped the team to a silver, and ending Nigeria’s protracted search for a reliable goalkeeper.
