A new £6.4m laboratory information management system is helping deliver faster pathology results at an NHS trust.
Northwest Anglia Foundation NHS Trust (NWAFT) runs Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Since its launch in October, the system has helped staff reduce reliance on paper.
The trust said it was a “fantastic step forward” in improving patient safety.
Geraldine Wingfield-Hill, chief digital information officer at the trust, said: “The first few weeks have gone well, with some excellent collaboration between hospital colleagues and GPs in our local communities.
“The new system has also helped future-proof the pathology service as it will enable other digital improvement projects to now take place, such as bedside label printing for pathology specimens.”
