Health minister commends FMC Ebute Metta for optimal service delivery

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa has commended the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta Lagos, for providing optimal healthcare services to Nigerians.

He gave the commendation during his visit to the hospital on Thursday in Lagos.

Alausa described the infrastructures on the ground and the mechanism put in place by the hospital management as a world-class standard.

He said, “I am extremely impressed with what I have seen so far having toured this hospital for over four hours. This hospital can be compared with whatever standard hospital you can get in the world.

“With all the constraints in the country, Dr. Adedamola Dada and his team are providing excellent services to Nigerians at subsidised rates. I commend the Medical Director for his passion and commitment in transforming the hospital,” he added.

According to him, more support will be provided to the hospital to further enhance its services to patients.

The Medical Director, FMC Ebute Meta, Dr. Adedamola Dada, thanked the minister for taking his time to tour all the departments in the hospital.

“The minister has taken his time to tour all the facilities and he has been able to identify our strengths and areas we are having challenges,” he added.

The CMD said one of the major challenges of the hospital was the shortage of medical personnel.

He said, “One major area we need support is the human resources, we have quite a number of completed infrastructure in place but we need more staff in the facilities to expand our services.

“We all know there have been a lot of challenges maintaining the health workforce in the country.”
